Facebook has released a March Madness themed basketball mini-game hidden inside its mobile Messenger app.

Once you’ve heard enough from your buddy whose bracket is still standing, you can just shut him up by pinging over a basketball emoji and starting a game of hoops.

Here’s how to play:

1. Download the latest version of the messenger app
2. Tap on any conversation
3. Send the basketball emoji
4. Tap the basketball emoji

Although the mini-game’s graphics are about as advanced as a Gameboy game, it’s strangely addictive when you get started.

It’s not a complicated game, it is just flicking a ball in the hoop, but when the praying hands emoji flashes up, it’s quite satisfying.

You don’t even have to worry about the power of your shot because the ball flies at the same height every time, so you just need to try and get the right direction.

Every time you score, a different emoji flashes up on screen and when you tap out after realising how limited it is, your personal best gets sent down the message thread.

It’s not amazing, but it’s probably better than watching March Madness after your team crashes out.
