Man pleads not guilty of murdering Northumbria student Jason Brockbanks

The 24-year-old was found dead at his accommodation last month


A man has plead not guilty of murdering student Jason Brockbanks, who was found dead at an accommodation in Newcastle’s Howard Street on 27th September.

The 24-year-old from Whitehaven in Cumbria was confirmed dead by emergency services.

Aaron Ray, 21, of Mayfield Road, Sunderland, has pleaded not guilty at Newcastle Crown Court.

He has been remanded in custody, with no bail application made, ahead of a further hearing on 19th December.

Judge Paul Sloan KC told him: “I am adjourning your case for trial. You already know the trial date of March 14 next year.

“I am also listing the case for further pre-trial hearing, just to make sure everything has been done that needs to be done and that will be listed on December 19.”

He faces trial on 14th March next year.
