The scene of the stabbing

This come months after a man was shot dead on the same street.

A local student told the Liverpool Tab: "I can’t believe this is the second time in 3/4 months that someone’s tried to murder someone on a road full of students and families with little kids, it’s sickening.

"The fact that the blood stains are still there the morning after is horrific."

In a press release this afternoon, Detective Inspector Paul Speight said: “The investigation is in its early stages however initial enquiries suggest this was a targeted attack. We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the Alderson or Smithdown Road area around 8.50pm yesterday evening and witnessed the incident, or any suspicious behaviour.”

He continued: “If you live or work locally and have home or business CCTV, or were driving past and have dashcam footage, please check and let us know as soon as you can.

“Knife crime will not be tolerated under any circumstances and we will do our utmost to bring those responsible to justice.”
