If you’re a student heading home for Easter but not sure you can handle three weeks explaining to your family that you need to sleep in till 11, you may have considered going away for some of it.

However, you’ve just hopped on Skyscanner and everywhere apart from Dublin is pushing £100 for return flights already. Whether you can’t afford a £200 flight to Paris or you’re an eco-conscious student, we have the solution to your Easter holiday woes.

After three exhausting months at university with deadlines and probably not enough sleep, a trip to get back in to nature could be just the thing to help you recover before the summer term.

1. Isle of Wight

Return ferry price: £24

It’s time to get your sea legs on; the ferry over to this not-so-tropical island is just £24 pp so you and your mates can enjoy some beautiful views. Have a look for some dinosaur fossils while you’re chilling on those sandy beaches; just remember to get the ferry from Southhampton to Cowes as it’s the cheapest fare.

2. Cornwall

Train price: £70-200, Driving price: £40-60, Bus price: £23

Campsite price: from £9/ night, Hostel price: £15- 8 bed girls dorm

Cornwall is one of the UK’s top tourist spots for a reason; the stunning open beaches and pretty small towns make it very attractive. There are plenty of cheap campsites and hostels so you can get back to nature and have some sunshine on your face. Is there anything better than a pint in the sun?

The Brecon Beacons is the perfect destination if you fancy climbing up a mountain and experiencing some of that famous Welsh beauty. There are plenty of hostels and campsites in the area but also lots of cute BnB’s for a romantic getaway…

4. Loch Lomond

Travel from Bristol: ~£70

If you want to pretend you’re getting somewhere far away, maybe try hopping on a short flight to Scotland. Loch Lomond is the perfect beach break for those who like to get chilly with a wild swim.

5. Brighton

Temple Meads to Brighton train fare: £34

If you aren’t really the outdoorsy type but still want to go somewhere new, check out Brighton. A vibrant city with its famous beach and pier you can catch a tan and then wander around an exciting city.

6. The New Forest

Driving price: £14-20

Keeping things close, the New Forest is just an hour’s drive from Bristol. It has endless amounts of nature to see but also lots of towns with plenty to do (Peppa pig world anyone?)

7. Milton Keynes

Train price: £64

Bus price: £22

If you’re still grieving not getting a ticket to the famous UBSC ski trip you can still get your snow fix by heading to the Milton Keynes inside slope. This city is a cultural hub of the UK and a must-see destination for your Easter break.
