A man has been stabbed in Bournemouth town centre

Armed police were called to the scene


Gervis Place, where most locals get on and off buses, was shut on Monday evening after police received reports of a man with stab injuries.

Police were called to the scene at 6.35pm and the area was taped off while they searched the area.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We were called to reports of a man found with stab injuries.

"The man was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be life threatening."

Police have released a man from custody without charge after initially arresting the 19-year-old from Poole on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and intent.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "An investigation is underway to identify the offender."
