Umbrella Academy star Robert Sheehan buried alive in 14 hour ‘gruelling’ filming stunt
He had a pretty traumatising last day on set for the show’s final season
The popular Netflix show, The Umbrella Academy, is releasing its fourth and final season and the Hargreeves siblings will be back for the last time to save the world, except it looks like Klaus has been pretty buried in filming (pun intended). By the sounds of it, the show is going to be insane: Robert Sheehan who plays Klaus Hargreeves in the show has already described a “gruelling” day where he was buried alive over and over again for a scene that took 14 hours to complete filming.
@hollywoodreporter at the premiere of #theumbrellaacademy season four, #robertsheehan talks about being buried alive over and over during his last day on set for the series
He spoke to The Hollywood Reporter at the season four premiere and described the day as “the most Promethean day I’ve had on the set of Umbrella Academy, because I was in and out of quite a snug coffin for about 14 hours and having to pretend to my fullest extent that I’ve been buried alive.” I cant even imagine how draining that must have been.
Robert has played Klaus since the compelling action series first hit Netflix in 2019 and quickly became very popular. And weirdly, this isn’t even the first time he’s been buried alive for television.
When he played Nathan Young on the E4 Misfits TV show, he woke up inside a coffin after realising he had gained immortal powers. What a weird coincidence – hope it wasn’t too traumatising for poor Robert Sheehan.

Season four of The Umbrella Academy releases on Netflix on Thursday the 8th of August, and the cast have already teased it to be an “ending we’re all proud of,” but to be honest, I’m a little scared to watch this harrowing buried alive scene now I know the backstory behind it.
