Boris Johnson orders all UK pubs, clubs and gyms to close tonight
Restaurants will still be allowed to offer takeaway services
Boris Johnson has told all pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafés to close.
In the latest in a series of daily press conferences, the Prime Minister told the population not to go out tonight, to further prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“Please don’t go out tonight,” he said. “You are not invincible.”
The UK Government also announced they would be helping to pay the wages of those struggling during the pandemic.
“We want you to stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives,” said the Prime Minister. “We will get through this – we will get through it together and beat this virus.”
The PM also told cinemas and gyms to close, while reiterating advice to self-isolate should people develop symptoms.
“We will be able to save literally thousands of lives,” he said.
