It’s not really explained, so why is Dolores Catania on Real Housewives of Rhode Island?

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dolores Catania is starring on The Real Housewives of Rhode Island, but why exactly is she on it?
It was announced as BravoCon 2025 that she would star on the show as “a friend of” Liz McGraw, with the pair having been friends for a while.
An insider told Us Weekly at the time that “the idea is she would set a tone but not as an official cast member,” an insider told Us.
Dolores previously revealed that the first place she ever visited outside of New Jersey was Rhode Island, recalling: “So my first time out of New Jersey was in Rhode Island. I was 18 years old. It was my first time experiencing anything [outside] of New Jersey. It was insane. They paint the streets with the Italian flag there.”
Liz spoke more about her friendship with Dolores Catania during the Real Housewives of Rhode Island trailer, saying: “We’re friends.” The pair appeared at a party together where someone asked if they were sisters, with Dolore asking, “do you think we look alike?”
Bravo also released a press release about Dolores’ involvement with Rhode Island, writing: “Rhode Island captured Dolores’s heart years ago and she’s longed to return ever since. With her dear friend Liz McGraw living there, and a shared business project on the horizon, a sun-soaked, beach-filled summer is a natural fit for this Jersey girl.”
