'It gives me the most euphoric feeling in the whole world'

Around a decade ago, Brittany appeared on My Strange Addiction and shared her habit with the world. On the TLC show, she described how she would chew on foam from car seats and upholstery, sometimes carrying foam in her purse and snacking on it throughout the day.
In one scene, she said: “…it’s fragrant, it’s ripe, my mouth salivates…” as she tore up pieces of foam from her couch with her hands.
By the time TLC caught up with her again, Brittany explained she’d been eating car seat foam for a whopping 20 years.
At this point, we see her visiting her OBGYN after her family held an intervention and said she should visit a doctor for some help relating to her addiction.
Speaking to Dr Cole on the show, Brittany said: “My family has been worried and they think that I need to come see a doctor because I eat non-digestible materials… so I pretty much eat foam, the cushion out of couches and cars.”
Brittany admitted that she ate foam “at least four to five times a day,” before adding: “There’s a piece in my mouth right now.”
She stopped eating foam for some time
Curious to learn more and concerned for Brittany’s health, Dr Cole asked if she’d ever attempted to not eat foam before.
She said: “When I was pregnant with my daughter, I stopped cold turkey and I didn’t do it for nine months… because I was afraid that something might happen to her…”
Although she was able to stop eating foam during her pregnancy, she then started again once her daughter was born.
Brittany added that her daughter was then nine years old during the 2023 episode. She added that her child had witnessed her eating foam.
The doctor then warned the TLC star about something called intestinal obstruction, which meant that she could end up having to use a colostomy bag if she continued to eat foam.
Brittany said she’d like to start off with the testing to see if there was anything internally damaging going on from her foam-eating addiction.
During her visit to the doctor’s office, Brittany broke down in tears and said: “I don’t even know you, but your energy, who I feel you are, it’s almost like I wish you were my mom growing up… that this was the support system that I had.”
The reality TV star concluded that if she were to stop eating foam, it would be to live longer for her daughter, Alijah.
During My Strange Addiction: Still Addicted? Brittany said she’d taken the “first step” in visiting the doctor. And, Dr Cole seemed pretty positive about what the future could hold for her.
