Man who was in ‘committed relationship’ with his car reveals where he is now, ten years on
The update is actually the wildest thing I have ever heard
TLC’s My Strange Addiction was truly a one of a kind sort of show and one of the most memorable episodes being when a then 27 year old Nathaniel admitted he was in a “committed relationship” with his car. Yes, really.
The next 15 seconds are what I can only describe as some of the most haunting images and videos I’ve seen in my life to date, with him literally making out with the car, using tongue I might add, whilst calling it “baby.”

The narrator explained that Nathaniel named the car Chase, and the two met five years ago in a resale lot. Who needs the dating apps, get down to those resale lots pronto I say!
Nathaniel admitted that Chase’s “body and interior” was what immediately drew him to the car and that he felt an “instant connection.”
And yes, this is an actual condition called objectophilia, which is where a person forms a strong emotional and sexual relationship with an intimate object.

The My Strange Addiction star confessed that he “doesn’t know why he feels the way I do” but explained that he and Chase “always have such a great time together” and they like the “same kind of music.” A match made in heaven clearly.
And yes, Nathaniel even takes his car on regular dates and tries to do something special for his birthday every year, so honestly the bar has been set.
Now, remember that bit where I said if someone has objectophilia they can develop a sexual relationship with their car? Well, without getting into too much detail, that does happen and it involves a lot of touching the steering wheel.
I’m afraid I actually had to skip over the segment because it was too much to watch, but you can watch the video here if you’re into that kind of thing.
Okay, so you get the gist, but now after ten whole years Nathaniel has done an update to reveal where his My Strange Addiction relationship with his car is now. And honestly, it’s a lot to take in so buckle up.

Well, shockingly Chase is no longer part of Nathaniel’s life. And no, not because of a breakup but because Chase was heavily damaged during a routine checkup at the garage, which happened four years prior.
Nathaniel admits that he “still thinks about him a lot” but ultimately thought he deserved better. He also set up a literal shine for Chase in one of his bedrooms which is his “special place” to remember Chase.

Actually quite sadly he starts to get very emotional about Chase and says through tears that it made him learn “to appreciate things before it’s too late.” Never expected to be getting teary eyed over a My Strange Addiction Video but here we go.
But now here comes the shocker. Nathaniel announces that he has managed to move on, and is now in relationship with FOUR new vehicles, however one is merely a “friends with benefits” type situation. Ouch.

Nathaniel is now seeing Lix, Jordan who he describes as “gentlemanly”, Jet who is his “manly” car and lastly Adam, which is a water craft.
And Nathaniel is particularly keen that with Adam he gets to feel like he’s “hugging him” when he takes him out on the water.
So there we go, and may we all pour one out for Chase tonight.
