Kelly Chase from Love Is Blind season one is speaking out on domestic abuse, and it’s pretty controversial. She claimed that “no one chooses to get beat” and “choose to stay” in toxic relationships, years after she became famous on the Netflix dating show.
While acknowledging that “hundreds of people disagree because they can’t see her perspective,” she made the controversial comment that it is a “choice to be in a relationship with a toxic person,” before revealing that she was in a domestic violence situation herself.
She wrote that she was subject to physical, verbal and emotional abuse and said: “HAD I had therapy or known HOW to get out of it, then I would have CHOSEN to get out of it. Ultimately YES it is a choice. When you’re in the thick of it, it doesn’t feel like you have a choice.”

She currently works as a coach “helping women call in next-level love, wealth & a soul-led coaching biz,” and was also slammed for giving out parenting advice, despite not having children of her own. Kelly wrote, “Every parent has access to self help.”
“If they’re choosing a career in alignment with what they want (working less, spending more time with kids), then they won’t need more childcare. It’s sitting in silence, meditating, affirmations; visualising, reading, exercising, journaling… Everything is free,” she added.
Kelly encouraged people to “work multiple jobs OR find one that pays you enough and gives you time freedom,” which rubbed people up the wrong way. Five years ago, she launched a coaching business and first private 1:1 coaching offer in between 12-hour workdays.
Kelly hired a mindset coach after Love Is Blind because she was “not in a good place,” having turned down fiancé Kenny Barnes at the altar. She said, as per People, “You’re in such a confined container for eight weeks and you get to know someone so quickly.”
