Amazon Prime’s Off Campus social media accounts have shared a warning to fans of the series who cross the line into the actors’ personal lives.

The ice hockey romance series Off Campus has grown a strong and supportive fanbase in a short time. People are making edits, writing fanfiction- all the classic behaviour encouraged by a particularly juicy piece of media.

But unfortunately, some members of the fan base have been spoiling the fun and harassing cast emembers and people in their personal lives. Because of this, Off Campus’ official social media accounts have shared a warning.

“The Off Campus community is built on a shared love of storytelling—and on respect for the real people who bring it to life,” the warning read. “We ask that everyone in this space extend that respect to our cast and the people in their lives. Accounts that engage in targeted harassment will be removed from following our accounts.”

Why are some Off Campus fans being called out?

In the past few weeks, there have been a couple pieces of drama within the Off Campus fanbase. First, Belmont’s IRL girlfriend, Raina Morris, had to publicly address the accidental unfollowing of Ella Bright after some fans claimed it was on purpose because she’s “jealous”. Raina shut this down abruptly, but the relationship drama didn’t stop there.

Mika Abdalla and long-term boyfriend and fiancé Jake Short ended their relationship early last week, and shared statements on social media. Quickly, clips of Jake Short went viral, including one where he said the two words he’d describe Mika as were “my bitch”/ A lot of people called this out for being misogynistic and dismissive.

“We’ve seen a conversation around clips of us together when we were in a relationship, and people making harmful and inaccurate assumptions about our dynamic,” they said in a joint statement about the situation for Us Weekly.

They clarified that they “were in a loving, respectful relationship for five years” and “it’s hurtful to see playful moments dissected in a way that does not reflect the respect and love we had and still have for each other.”
