*Warning: Spoilers ahead for American Horror Story season 13 episodes 11-12* The penultimate episodes of American Horror Story season 13 have landed, and with them comes a pretty glaring plot hole when it comes to Judy Martin, aka Sister Jude. So, here’s what’s actually going down with the timeline. While much of season 13 episode 11, ‘Madison’s Happy Ending’, focuses on Madison (Emma Roberts) and Ben’s (Joey Pollari) love story, we also see the return of Myrtle Snow (Frances Conroy). After discovering that his father, Satan, has been manipulating his entire life, Ben decides to turn against him and join forces with the Coven. But knowing the witches wouldn’t exactly welcome the Devil’s son with open arms, he brings Myrtle back from her own personal hell to prove he’s on their side. As Myrtle reveals to Fiona Goode (Lange), she has an identical twin sister: none other than Constance Langdon (Lange). Given we found out earlier on in season 13 that Mr Nas, aka Satan, is actually Constance’s father, that means the same goes for Fiona. But the bombshells didn’t end there. Guess who their mother is? Sister Jude Martin (also Lange). According to Myrtle, Satan visited Jude while she was imprisoned at Briarcliff, resulting in the birth of the twins. Constance was subsequently sent to live with a couple in Virginia, while Fiona eventually found her way to Miss Robichaux’s Academy in New Orleans. It’s a pretty wild way to connect three of the show’s biggest seasons, Murder House, Coven and Asylum. And with Fiona and Constance now revealed to be Satan’s daughters, the stage is set for one seriously messy family showdown in the finale. But there’s just one rather glaring problem with the timeline. Why Sister Jude’s American Horror Story timeline doesn’t add up Credit: FX As many fans have pointed out since the release of American Horror Story’s latest episodes, there are some pretty huge plot holes when it comes to the timeline. Here’s the problem: Asylum begins in 1964, with Jude eventually being committed to Briarcliff herself. And according to the season 13 revelation, it’s during her imprisonment that Satan visits her and she becomes pregnant with Fiona and Constance. That means the twins couldn’t have been born until the mid-1960s at the earliest. When we look back at Coven and Murder House, things start to get very confusing. For starters, Coven established that Fiona murdered the previous Supreme, Anna Leigh Leighton, in 1971. So, if she really was born after Jude’s imprisonment, Fiona would have been a young child when she killed her predecessor and became the next Supreme. And then there’s Constance. In Murder House, she gave birth to her daughter Adelaide in 1972. That would mean Constance was no older than around eight years old when she became a mother. Erm, what? Over on Reddit, one wrote, “Sister Jude, or Judy Martin rather, went insane in 1965… meaning Constance and Fiona were born in 1966 AT THE EARLIEST! “That would mean Constance was 45 at most during Murder House and around six at most when she gave birth to Addie in 1972. “Fiona was 47 at most in 2013… when she had a mid 30s daughter. And also, she was five when she murdered the previous Supreme and performed the seven wonders… is she even a witch now?” Another agreed, “The timelines don’t add up whatsoever. THIS SEASON IS A MESS.” A third pointed out, “Not just that, base on Fiona’s PASSPORT in Coven, she was born on October 17, 1950. Doesn’t make sense.” Of course, American Horror Story has never exactly been afraid of bending its own rules, especially when it comes to the supernatural. One viewer pointed out two potential explanations. “Two things, either this season ends up being some alternate reality AI fan fic or because they are the blood of Satan they aged up faster like Micheal Langdon,” they said. With one episode still to go, there’s always the possibility that the finale has another twist waiting for us. For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
