*Warning: Major spoilers ahead for The Boys season five episode eight* Well, the time has come. As we’ve been warned for years, there will be deaths in The Boys season five finale, and they weren’t lying. Up until now, the only major deaths in the fifth and final chapter have been Black Noir 2, Firecracker, and Frenchie. We’ve known since the very beginning that central to this struggle is the battle between Homelander and Butcher, but with so many characters still intact, there’s a lot to wrap up in just one hour. The episode doesn’t waste any time, kicking off with an emotional funeral for Frenchie before an (unsurprisingly) unhappy reunion between Homelander and Ryan. We then find out that Frenchie’s death wasn’t in vain, as the uranium trick worked. Kimiko now has the ability to take away any supe’s powers, first hitting Sister Sage (her brain is finally quiet). But before they can get to Homelander, it’s painfully clear no one is safe. And in true The Boys fashion, the deaths are grisly AF. Well, the title is called ‘Blood and Bone’. So, who gets killed in The Boys season 5 episode 8? The main characters who die in the finale, in the other they go in, are: Oh Father The Deep Homelander Terror Butcher Their deaths are as grisly as expected Credit: Prime Video Oh Father is killed by Mother’s Milk and Hughie during the Boys’ mission to infiltrate the White House and stop Homelander. The pair use – rather fittingly – a ball gag to take him down. While Hughie’s fighting him, Oh Father takes a deep breath in, about to blast him with his sonic scream, but right at the last second MM wraps the gag around his mouth, causing his head to explode. Lovely stuff. The Deep dies during a fight with Annie, aka Starlight – it’s what he deserves. During the brutal showdown, Starlight blasts him into the ocean, where the marine life he screwed over in order to please Homelander turn on him. In one of the finale’s most grotesque moments, an octopus tentacle wraps around The Deep and bursts through his mouth, killing him instantly. It’s a ridiculous but strangely fitting end for one of The Boys’ most tragic and pathetic characters. After five seasons of chaos, Homelander is finally killed during the showdown in the Oval Office. Following Ryan’s rejection and Kimiko draining his powers, Butcher brutally kills a now powerless Homelander in front of the world. Credit: Prime Video Even though fans have waited years for Homelander’s downfall, the finale presents his death less as a triumphant victory and more as an exhausting inevitability after the destruction he caused. As for Terror, this one hurts the most, although thankfully he dies in his sleep rather than being killed by a Homelander clone (like he does in the comics). Butcher survives the battle with Homelander, but not for long. After becoming consumed by the belief that Vought itself needs to be destroyed, he attempts to unleash the virus through the company headquarters’ sprinkler system. Credit: Prime Video Butcher hesitates, however, seeing his brother in Hughie. This gives Hughie enough time to shoot Butcher, who makes peace with his decision before dying from the gunshot wound.
