We all knew a Supernatural reunion was happening in The Boys season five episode five, but what the trailer didn’t show us is that a whole bunch of other celebrities cameo – and they unsurprisingly all die in horrific ways. *Spoilers ahead for The Boys season five episode five* Since The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke created Supernatural and Soldier Boy star Jensen Ackles played Dean Winchester, it only seemed fitting to stage a reunion before the superhero series drew to a close. Ackles has previously spoken about the fun he had being reunited with his co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins, who played Supernatural’s Sam Winchester and Castiel, respectively. In this show, they play Mister Marathon and Malchemical, two washed-up supes who are no longer a part of the Vought machine. Instead, they’re left to make money via shoddy non-VCU movies – undoubtedly a parody of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (Homelander even says they’re produced by “Sony Pictures TV”). It’s all very hilarious. The reason we meet them is after Stan Edgar tells Homelander and Soldier Boy that Marathon Man may know where to find the last remaining sample of V-One, and so they head to his LA home. Alongside Malchemical, they find none other than Seth Rogen, Kumail Nanjiani, Will Forte, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, playing intense versions of themselves. In this world, they’re talking about the many celebrities who’ve been rounded up and killed during the supe coup, and how they can ensure their survival. Again, it’s very hilarious. Initially, Homelander and Soldier Boy get the info they’re looking for: turns out Bombsight may have the V-One (but that’s another story for another day). Before the world’s most messed up father-son duo leave, Malchemical uses his gassy powers to knock out Homelander. Turns out, him and Mister Marathon want Soldier Boy’s help to put a stop to his son. Soldier Boy considers it for a minute, before ultimately deciding to stick with Homelander – looks like he’s finally growing fond of him after all. As for the rest of the gang, well, we always knew they’d be here for a good time, not a long one, and boy do they leave in spectacularly grisly fashion. Misha Collins Credit: Prime Video Funnily enough, Misha Collins is the first to go and he also gets the quickest and most painless death. After Soldier Boy chooses Homelander, he picks Collins’ Malchemical up by the neck with one arm as the others look on in horror, before swiftly cracking it, killing him instantly. Craig Robinson Credit: Prime Video Oh, you thought we’d made a mistake? Nope, turns out Kripke managed to sneak in another cameo in the form of Craig Robinson. When the fight breaks out, Soldier Boy runs out the room and crosses paths with Robinson, who’s been using the loo the whole time. While Robinson’s just excited to see him, Soldier Boy grabs him and uses him as a human shield. Mister Marathon then races round the corner, A-Train style, causing poor ‘ol Robinson to explode like a human water balloon. Will Forte Credit: Prime Video Just moments before this, the exact same tactic is used on Will Forte. Much like A-Train, Mister Marathon runs at uncontrollable speeds, and Soldier Boy uses this to his advantage. After Mister Marathon is punched to the ground, Padalecki’s character then gets up and speeds towards his opponent. But Soldier Boy switches places right at the last second, meaning Forte erupts in a spray of blood and guts. Pretty damn grim, but at least it’s quick. Kumail Nanjiani and Christopher Mintz-Plasse Credit: Prime Video Guess what? Kumail Nanjiani and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are killed in very similar fashion. The only reason it ranks higher is the brutality of it, as Soldier Boy finds them trying to call 911. He tells them he’s going to let them survive if they do exactly as he says. He pops around the corner before telling them to step out just as Mister Marathon approaches. They take his spot, only to realise their friend is heading straight for them and vice-versa. Once again, Mister Marathon is left scraping his pals’ offal off his face. Seth Rogen Credit: Prime Video Seth is one of the last men standing, and he sneaks off towards the exit, only for Soldier Boy to grab him and throw him in Mister Marathon’s path. But it’s anything but a quick death. Padalecki’s supe looks down to find Seth sliced clean in half, with his guts spilling out onto the floor. After sharing some quick goodbyes, he cracks his neck to put him out of his misery. Jared Padalecki Credit: Prime Video Soldier Boy really does save the best (and most brutal) until last. Using the unusually large supply of lube on hand, he causes Padalecki’s Mister Marathon to slip and fall, before stamping his foot clean off his leg. Then, when he doesn’t give up the information he wants, Soldier Boy snaps his other foot off with his bare hands. Finally, Mister Marathon tells him that Bombsight has the V-One. Before he can find out more, Homelander rocks up and stamps on his face, crushing it like a watermelon. Like father, like son.
