The HBO Harry Potter trailer reveals even more of its new cast, including Professor Sprout

HBO has finally dropped the full trailer for its new Harry Potter TV series, and there are even more new faces at Hogwarts than we’ve seen so far.

The trailer was released to mark Back to Hogwarts Day and gives a much better look at the upcoming adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which is due to arrive later this year.

As well as giving us plenty of shots of Harry’s first year at Hogwarts, the new footage introduces several of the teachers and students who will be joining the reboot for its first season.

Among the familiar faces being recast is Snape, with Paapa Essiedu taking over the role previously made iconic by Alan Rickman in the original films. John Lithgow is also seen as Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore, while Janet McTeer plays Professor Minerva McGonagall and Nick Frost takes on the role of Hagrid.

We also get a closer look at some of Harry’s fellow students, including Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy and Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom.

One actor who will be crossing over from the original films is Warwick Davis, who is returning as Professor Filius Flitwick.

And there’s another new Hogwarts professor to spot in the trailer: Lebanese-Palestinian actress Sirine Saba is playing Professor Pomona Sprout.

Sprout was previously played by Miriam Margolyes in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Deathly Hallows Part 2. In the books, she’s the professor responsible for growing the Mandrakes used to revive people who have been petrified by the basilisk, and later helps defend Hogwarts.

The character is set to become even more important as the series progresses. Season two, which will adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, reportedly began filming last month, meaning Sprout’s greenhouse duties are about to get considerably more hectic.
