Guys, The Traitors returns next week and Maura Higgins is officially taking over as host!

Cancel your plans, throw your hooded cloaks in the wash, and prepare to be absolutely shaken to your core. The Traitors returns to our screens next week, but there is a massive, Claudia-shaped hole in the lineup, because Maura Higgins has officially been crowned the new Queen of the Castle.

Reality TV has officially lost the plot in the best way possible. We’re not exaggerating when we say this could be the most unhinged season yet.

Producers have apparently decided to swap out the show’s usual icy, whispery tension for something a bit more… loud. Insiders are already hinting that Maura’s hosting style involves less quiet suspicion and more calling people out directly at the round table.

BBC bosses were reportedly blown away by Maura’s recent stint on the US version of The Traitors, where she somehow managed to be both iconic and mildly terrifying at the same time. Apparently, execs saw the reaction from American audiences, who instantly became obsessed, and decided it was only fair that UK people got the full Maura experience too.

One insider told The Tab: “Maura brings a completely different energy to the show, and that’s exactly what we wanted. She’s sharp, unpredictable, and totally unafraid to say what everyone else is thinking.

Producers also addressed the elephant in the room: Maura stepping into the very iconic shoes of Claudia Winkleman. “Claudia is, of course, a huge part of what made The Traitors such a phenomenon, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything she’s done with the show,” a source said. “But Maura isn’t trying to replace her. She’s bringing something completely different.”

Why settle for subtle mind games when you can have a host who will quite literally drag the truth out of people at the round table? Exactly. There are even rumours that contestants are genuinely terrified, not of the Traitors, but of Maura herself clocking their lies in real time.
