Lily Allen speaks out about dark David Harbour marriage after releasing brutal album
She didn’t hold back
After making some brutal allegations about her ex-husband David Harbour in her surprise new album West End Girl, Lily Allen has spoken out about their marriage in a new interview.
The album features 14 songs, which appears to tell the story of their turbulent marriage. The Stranger Things actor has been accused of having a cheating on her, which he has never responded to.
Speaking to Vogue earlier this week, Lily Allen opened up about how their breakup took her into a really dark place, and she had to check herself into a mental health facility because she “wanted to die”.
“I’ve had real problems with my food over the past few years. It got really, really, really bad,” she said. “The feelings of despair that I was experiencing were so strong.”
“The last time that I felt anything like that, drugs and alcohol were my way out, so it was excruciating to sit with those [feelings] and not use them.”

“I’ve been into those places before against my will and I feel like that’s progress in itself. That’s strength. I knew that the things I was feeling were too extreme to be able to manage, and I was like, ‘I need some time away.'”
However, she’s in a very different “space” now after recovery.
“Listen, I am in a period of self-discovery at the moment and I’m really trying to explore how I’ve got myself into certain situations in the past,” she said. “I need to unpack some things and break some patterns and probably talk to my therapist about my relationship with my dad.”

Allen said all her albums are based on “traumatic” events in her life, and this is no exception. Speaking about how she felt when writing it, she said: “Confusion, sorrow, grief, helplessness.”
