After Lily Allen’s savage album, here’s everything David Harbour has said on their split

‘I’m choosing to make it a period of growth’

Lily Allen’s new album, West End Girl just dropped, and its full of lyrics talking about her messy breakup with David Harbour. But what has the actor said about their relationship since the split?

In an interview with British GQ back in April, he talked about how the new era of his life was making him feel.

“There’s a lot of change, a tremendous amount of change,” he said. “And I think in that world, you have two paths. You can deny this change, be afraid of this change, you can kind of be chaotic about it and, like, eat your way through – whatever you need to do. Or you can sit with however uncomfortable, or weird, or new, it makes you feel.”

After four years of marriage, Lily Allen and David Harbour split in February. Lily has since spoken about how hard this time of her life was for her, and opened up about feeling suicidal.

“The feelings of despair that I was experiencing were so strong,” she said in an interview with British Vogue. “The last time that I felt anything like that, drugs and alcohol were my way out, so it was excruciating to sit with those [feelings] and not to use them.”

Meanwhile, David was reportedly spotted with model Ellie Beers Fallon right after his relationship with Lily ended. Speaking about how he personally dealt with the emotional turmoil, he explained to British GQ he was channelling all his energy into his career.

“For me, always the best thing that I can do is take all of that experience and pour it into work, because my experience, no matter how awful or great, will always be useful to someone else if it’s channeled through art. I can always be of use. And so that’s what I’m doing.”

He continued: “It’s not that things ending aren’t hard, but it’s just that I’m choosing to make it a period of growth. And I feel like having the opportunity to be busy and work is really good. I’m learning how to swim in this, whatever it is. Learning how to float. Learning how to make it not about me.”

The 50-year-old actor has turned off the comments on his Instagram acount since the album dropped.
