The Glasgow Fight Night countdown is officially on, so let’s meet this year’s fighters

It’s time to step into the ring

Welcome to the ring, ladies and gents — where lecture notes are swapped for left hooks, and caffeine is replaced with pure, unfiltered adrenaline. These 14 brave (and slightly unhinged) souls have traded the library for the limelight, swapping seminar stress for six minutes under the spotlight.

Over the last eight weeks, our fighters have been training with military precision. Every single one of them has mentioned Bryan’s bear crawls — so whoever Bryan is, he’s got a lot to answer for.

All that training comes down to just 360 seconds in the ring to prove themselves under the lights at SWG3 on Monday 18th November 18th (5:30–11pm). And if history repeats itself, it’ll be a night to remember.

The countdown is on. Gloves up. Let’s meet the lineup.

Kitty Scholes ‘Pay the’ Pryce

Age: 21 | Biochemistry, second year, UofG
Socials: @kscholespryce

If she wins, what are her celebration plans? Straight to the pub, obviously — followed by a polite little DM to Tyson Fury to see if he fancies a proper challenge.

As for training, she reports things got spicy fast: First day of sparring and two girls had to be pulled apart. Things are getting tense.

And her final message to her opponent? “Loser buys the first round.”

‘Wacky’ Willow McCarlie

Age: 19 | media, second Year
Socials: @willowmccarlie_x

When asked how she’ll celebrate a win, Willow didn’t mince words: “Getting white girl wasted in Wunderbar with my mum.” A woman of the people. Equal parts menace and sweetheart, she had one humble request for her opponent before the bell rings: “Please don’t hurt my nose.”

Hannah Todd ‘Zilla’

Age: 20 | Psychology, fourth Year, UofG
Socials: @hhannahtodd

Her Fight Night Tinder bio? “I’ll take you out to dinner before I take your head off your shoulders.” If she loses, Hannah’s got her excuse locked and loaded — “My opponent most likely had 15 years’ experience on me.” Classic PR polish.

The hardest part of training? “The b*stard bear crawls. I’ve never seen a boxer pause a match to crawl around on all fours — most importantly without their knees touching the ground — but I digress. Trust the process.”

And for her walkout song — the perfectly chaotic “Von Dutch” by Charli XCX, because, as she puts it, “it’s okay for you to admit that you’re jealous of me.”

Author note – I think I’m in love with this girl.

Selena ‘The Turkish Fright’ Yedikardes

Age: 21 | International relations, fourth year
Socials: @selenayedikardess

Selena sizes up her opponent in three words: “Nice, good-looking, punchable.” Her pre-fight ritual involves stewing on every slight and misstep her opponents have thrown her way, turning grudges into fuel.

She’ll walk out to “Breaking Dishes” by Rihanna, setting the tone for a fight that’s equal parts style, spice, and pure chaos. If she loses… she’s retreating straight back to Turkey.

Étienne ‘Hawaiian Punch’ Salle

Age: 21 | Social & public policy, fourth year, UofG
Socials: @etiennesalle

Étienne’s got the ultimate fan club in tow — friends, flatmates, and most importantly, his partner, who doubles as his number-one cheerleader. True to his “loverboy” reputation, his pre-fight message to his opponent is cheeky and disarming: Smooches 😘.”

Fighting hard, looking good, and keeping hearts aflutter — Étienne brings charm as much as punches to the ring.

‘Concrete’ Cameron Leed

Age: 21 | Mechanical engineering, fourth year, GCU
Socials: @cameron.llees

Cameron’s celebration plans are refreshingly simple: Win or lose, he’s getting drunk within the next 15 minutes.” No fuss, no frills — just straight to the point. He’ll make his entrance to The House of the Rising Sun by The Animals, setting a dramatic, slightly tragic tone for a fighter who’s as unshakeable in spirit as he is in muscle.

Brodie ‘XL Bully’ Gray

Age: 21 | Sport & exercise, fourth year, UofG
Socials: @brodiejgray8

Brodie’s Fight Night Tinder bio is peak Brodie: “I wear my medal with pride — but I’d wear your lipstick better” (hot or cringe, you decide). His mantra? “It’s supposed to be hard, otherwise everyone would do it” (ouch). XL in size, XL in attitude, and XL in mischief.

‘Danger’ Daayum D’Mohsin (Triple D)

Age: 22 | MSc data analytics, first year, Strathclyde
Socials: @dym.786

Daayum sums up his opponent in three words: “My Punching Bag.” Brutal, honest, and very confident. As for Glasgow Fight Night itself? For him, it’s all about turning tough times into legendary stories — preferably ones where he’s the one doing the punching.

Joe ‘The Juicer’ Birchall

Age: 22 | Economics, fourth year, UofG
Socials: @joe.birchall

Joe’s celebration plans are… unique: “Two Cubans, only one cigar” (is this PG enough to publish?). Training has been all about multitasking — he’s swapped shower singing for shadow boxing, because why not start the day with a jab?

To handle nerves, he relies on Clash of Clans, and he’ll make his entrance to the Postman Pat Drill Remix. His parting words to his opponent? Short, sweet, and intimidating: “Goodnight.”

Ben ‘The Menace’ Michie

Age: 20 | Law, third year, UofG
Socials: @benmichie0

Ben’s victory plans are simple and international: “Cerveza, birra, and more bière.” Training hasn’t been all fun and games — the warm-ups, especially those dreaded bear crawls, have been his toughest hurdle. But he keeps himself going with a classic (and slightly intimidating) mantra: “He conquers who endures” — Persius.

Tough, relentless, and ready to bring the menace to the ring.

Iona ‘Killer Kenny’ Kennedy

Age: 20 | Marine biology, third year, UofG
Socials: @ionakennedy118

Iona’s energy is unstoppable: “Fall down seven times, get up eight.” The crowd should expect grit, determination, and a fighter who won’t stay down for long. She’ll make her entrance to No Broke Boys, and if you need her afterwards (assuming you’re not a broke boy, of course), you can catch our girl drinking “many many beers” at Kitty’s.

Holly Shand’storm’

Age: 21 | Medicine, 4th Year, UofG
Socials: @holly.shand

Holly’s pre-fight ritual is pure chaos energy: Lucky bacon-and-eggs underwear and a heroic bowl of Weetabix. A cheeky shot before stepping into the ring helps her channel all the sweat, tears, and questionable training decisions.

Glasgow Fight Night is personal — a tribute to her dad, who passed away earlier this year.

Her Fight Night Tinder bio: Quick finisher. Dad would be so proud…

Izzy ‘Makes ’Em Dizzy’ Grundmann

Age: 20 | Neuroscience, third year, UofG
Socials: @isabellargrundmann

If Izzy loses, don’t believe everything you see: “It was AI generated. Fake news has gotten really out of hand and needs regulating.”

She’s making her entrance to The Giver by Chappell Roan, ready to bring some main-character energy to the ring. Glasgow Fight Night has been more than just training for her — it’s been a wild, oddly wholesome community of people she might never have met otherwise, all trauma-bonded over Bryan making them bear crawl through the gym.

Conall ‘The Taig’ Dolan

Age: 18 | Computing, second year, Glasgow Caledonian
Socials: @conall_dolan

Conall’s approach is chill, confident, and very Glasgow. If he wins, he’s “straight on it,” and straight to the pub if he loses. With “all the burds” in his corner and a bio that reads “Good with my hands,” Conall is the ultimate wildcard. His parting words to any opponent are simple and threatening: “Break a leg” – and he just might!

The countdown’s on — and this time, you’re in the ring too. The fighters have done their eight weeks of blood, sweat, and Bryan’s bear crawls (poor souls), and now it’s your turn to show up, scream their names, and witness the chaos unfold.

The afterparty is at Wunderbar, City Centre — where the real fights will probably kick off. Keep an eye on the Fight Night Instagram for updates. And if you didn’t manage to bag a ticket? Don’t stress — we’ll be spilling every last punch, pint, and plot twist in a follow-up article soon. Keep your eyes peeled!
