This screenwriter’s take on The Summer I Turned Pretty ending is exactly what Jenny Han said

A screenwriter has just shared his take on what will happen at the end of The Summer I Turned Pretty season three and who Belly actually chooses, and it’s exactly what Jenny Han has said.

With today’s episode out, we’re now only two episodes away from finally answering the ultimate question that’s been keeping people awake since season one: Who does Belly end up with?

So, an influencer on TikTok, who often posts videos featuring her screenwriter husband, uploaded a clip where he watched The Summer I Turned Pretty season three trailer and immediately guessed the ending, including who Belly chooses. And he might be onto something.

Similar to what we saw in episode eight, he said, “I think she’s going to go to the wedding, but she can’t do it. Because as much as she wants to be with (Jeremiah), she can’t get over her first love (Conrad).” That’s literally what happens in both the books and the latest episode.

But then, he went further. He predicted, “She’s gonna say no at the wedding, but when she goes to be with her first love, she’s also gonna say no to him. Because the show won’t be about her ending up with one of them. It’ll be about her coming into her own as a woman, as a powerful person in control of her own destiny. So she’ll reject both of them and move on with her life without either of them.”

He even added, “And it’s called The Summer I Turned Pretty, which sounds like a memoir or someone looking back. So it’s very likely they could end the show with her older, writing this all down as advice to her daughter. Like, don’t live your life based on men or love, but do what’s best for you. Don’t give in to what they want, do what’s best for you. And that’s how it ends.”

Finally, he said, “If not, she’s going with Conrad.” He also made it clear he’s Team Independence.

And the interesting part is, Jenny Han has already hinted at all of this before. She’s said the show’s ending will be different from the books, and that Belly might not actually choose between the brothers. She could very well choose herself instead.

So maybe this screenwriter isn’t far off at all. He might actually be right. Only two more weeks and we’ll finally know the truth.
