Rock N Roll Circus: Sheffield’s festival season continues with Grammy nominees and 80s star

If you couldn’t make it to Tramlines, or  are not ready to give up on festival season just yet, don’t panic as Don Valley Bowl has got your back. Rock N Roll circus – live gigs with an entertaining trapeze twist – returns to the Bowl in Sheffield this month.

Aside from the staggering line up, there are five days of circus workshops, festival fun and, randomly yet perfect, Greggs. Here’s what’s in store at the Rock N Roll Circus event in Sheffield, featuring local legends and up-and-comers, rock icons and even a Spice Girl.

Queens of the Stone Age

Wednesday 27th/Thursday 28th

American rock band Queens of the Stone Age kick off the festival with an insane headline spot, with an extra date even added due to “phenomenal demand”. The nine-times Grammy-nominated band will be shaking Sheffield with hits like No One Knows and Go With The Flow.

However, the supports for this show are just as mega. With incredible artists like Viagra Boys, Fat Dog, Circa Waves and So Good warming up the stage it promises to be an insanely loud and ridiculous end to the week. Hows that for your regular Wednesday and Thursday?

Bryan Adams feat. Mel C

Friday 29th

The summer of ’25 promises to be a great one when you’ve got a rock legend and a British icon sharing the same stage. Bryan Adams’ hits like Run to You and Heaven dominated the 80s charts, and his new album Roll With The Punches releases on the 29th itself – basically giving Sheffield a huge album release party. With Mel C also on the bill, could we get a performance of the pair’s brilliant track When You’re Gone?

The rest of the lineup are, yet again, just as brilliant. Nell Mescal, Cassyette and Newton Faulkner will be bringing their stuff to Don Valley, and Sheffield bands Sundress and Femur will be back on the stage, not long after delighting the Tramlines Main Stage.

Reverend and the Makers

Saturday 30th August

If the past two line-ups don’t look Sheffield enough to you, this is your day. Local heroes Reverend and the Makers are holding their twenty year anniversary party, with some incredibly beloved supports. Not to mention an exclusive Day Fever featuring Pulp drummer Nick Banks, artists Pete McKee, and Hull comedian Lucy Beaumont.

Special guests Groove Armada will be doing a DJ set (At the River live, are you kidding me), and Libertines Peter Doherty and Carl Barat, The Lottery Winners and The Rosadocs are amongst the other greats performing. Sheffield lads Cruz are also one you don’t wanna miss out on.

Sunday 31st

The festival is of course closing a run of insane line ups with a banger. A 90s celebration is in order with superstar James headlining, Ocean Colour Scene and Sleeper featured too – I doubt anyone will be sat down for this one.

Also make sure to grab your bucket hats out of the Oasis 25 memory box, because the indie game is strong on Sunday. Jamie Webster, The Lilacs, The Kairos and Arkyala are just some of the names that promise a brilliant end to the weekend. Got your tickets yet?
