Pancakes, dumplings and tiramisu: The York Tab’s Restaurant Week roundup

Eat more, spend less, a summary of our York Restaurant Week

For the last two weeks, York Restaurant Week made its highly anticipated return, running in both March and October each year. This time, for the first time ever, it ran for two full weeks, from March 10th to 23rd, bringing some of the best food deals in the city.

More than 100 venues participated this March, offering a wide range of deals priced between £5 and £30, making dining out more accessible than ever. With the event now spread over two weeks, it was even easier than ever to try multiple restaurants.

Whether you’re a foodie looking for an excuse to eat out or just want to enjoy a great meal at a bargain, there was something for everyone. This year, we checked out KYND, Lucia, The Blue Barbakan, and La Vecchia Scuola — here’s how it went!

KYND

Believe it or not, I wasn’t a matcha fan before, but KYND’s iced white chocolate raspberry matcha made me rethink my choices. Spoiler alert: no, it doesn’t taste like grass.

We also indulged in their pancake stack, topped with berry compote, whipped cream, crushed meringue, and fresh raspberries —all for just £10 each! A bargain meal that will keep you full for hours.

Lucia

Located in the heart of York, Lucia is a go-to spot for lovers of Italian and Mediterranean flavours. For York Restaurant Week, they offered a special set menu featuring carbonara pasta, chicken hummus salad, and two scoops of gelato to top it all off.

The best part? For £20 each, we even got a complimentary glass of Prosecco — which, let’s be honest, was the real reason we came in the first place! With its warm ambiance and fantastic flavours, Lucia was a solid choice.

The Blue Barbakan

For a taste of traditional Polish cuisine, we stopped by The Blue Barbakan. Their menu included pierogi (Polish dumplings stuffed with various fillings) and other homely Eastern European classics that will make you love Polish cuisine.

If you’re looking for hearty, comforting food, this is a must-visit. Pair it with an iced latte, and we’re all in!

La Vecchia Scuola

Our final stop was another Italian spot that truly embraced the spirit of York Restaurant Week. Offering a two-course meal paired with a medium glass of wine at an unbeatable price, their menu featured classics like bruschetta, creamy seafood linguine, and a rich, velvety tiramisu for dessert.

If you’re feeling fancy and craving authentic Italian cuisine, York was brimming with excellent choices this week.
