A guide on how to curate the perfect (low cost) girls night in as a Warwick student

Treat you and your girls this weekend

Spending quality time with your friends and taking time for yourself at uni is so important, especially as deadlines loom and the pressure is on to submit your assignments and cram for exams. It’s also around this time of year that societies run tours and trips and balls, so it can be an expensive time of year, but it’s still important to take time for yourself. So here are five ways to have a chill girls night in, for a minimal cost.

1. Do a face mask

Either buy sheet masks or invest in one you can keep using and have a regular pamper night. Skincare is always the route to a calm, productive evening and you can watch a film whilst it sinks in or even have a glass of wine. Face masks are sure to take the evening from normal night in to girls night and they’re not going to break the bank.

2. Eat lots of ice cream

This should be a motto for life in general, not just girls nights in, but ice cream is pivotal to the relaxing factor. Either buy a big tub and split it or splurge on some Ben and Jerry’s (who always have their tubs filled to the brim even in this cost of living crisis) and grab a spoon.

3. watch a 2000s rom-com

Sometimes watching something new can take so much unnecessary energy, so watching a crowd pleaser of a 2000’s romcom is the way to have a truly successful girls night. My top picks are Wild Child, Serendipity and How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days.

4. Wear pyjamas

The only girls night uniform if you ask me. I’m all for dressing up and going out, but sometimes you need to be comfy and wear something with an elasticated waistband and ditch the jeans. Pyjama nights can also make for really cute instagram pics and you don’t even have to change once you get home.

5. Play pop anthems

via Spotify

Everyone needs a hype song and a Spice Girls anthem once in a while. Uni is hard and when you’re feeling down the pop girlies are sure to pull through to get you out of a slump. “Hey Siri, play songs by Rihanna.”
