Maura savagely accuses Pete of ‘cheating’ after allegedly dumping him over ‘trust issues’

After all those months of back and forth, Maura Higgins and Pete Wicks have split, and the ex-Love Islander has hinted that cheating is the reason things ended.

Maura was stopped by paparazzi while leaving a restaurant on Valentine’s Day with her hairstylist Carl Bembridge. They asked “Where’s Pete?” and she savagely replied: “I don’t know. Probably cheating.”

A source told The Sun she found messages from loads of girls on his phone and dumped him because there were “trust” issues between them.

“Maura was suspicious of Pete and whether he might have been messing her around. There’s been some rows over trust. She felt she was proved right when she saw loads of messages with other women on his phone.”

“She knew she’d never be able to feel like she could trust him — even if the messages were all innocent, it’s not something she could get past. She didn’t want to be constantly worried about what her man was doing.”

“But Maura remained coy about the relationship the whole time and isn’t going to start bad-mouthing him after the split — she is now just determined to move on from him,” the insider continued.

Another source told the MailOnline: “Maura and Pete have decided to call off their romance. There have been a few clashes and it was eventually agreed they were better off as friends.”

“Those closest to them know it’s been a very on-and-off relationship, which is why they were so resistant to go public in the first place.”

They surprisingly said the pair “remain close and share a deep connection” despite the breakup, although that certainly isn’t what was implied by Maura in the savage paparazzi comment.

“You never know with Maura and Pete, the attraction is so strong that you wouldn’t rule out reunion at some point – even in the short term,” a friend added.

Maura and Pete have been friends for years, but things turned romantic towards the end of 2024 and the pair were spotted kissing outside a London restaurant in October.

She then went into the I’m A Celebrity jungle as the romance rumours were hotting up and told her fellow campmates she was “seeing someone” and they were “exclusive”.

However, they kept things very private and it’s not clear how serious their relationship actually was.
