Marcel Somerville is back in the Love Island villa, this time as part of the All Stars cast alongside Luca Bish, Olivia Hawkins, and shockingly, his ex-girlfriend Gabby Allen.

But while most of us are eagerly awaiting what is hopefully the conclusion of their story, Marcel’s current wife, Rebecca Vieira, is watching from home. The couple, who married in August 2022, separated in March of last year after Marcel stumbled upon a message exchange between his dearly beloved and American rapper Slim Jxmmi – real name Aaquil Iben Shamon Brown.

But who is Slim Jxmmi and what part did he play in Marcel and Rebecca’s marriage failing?

So, did Rebecca Vieira actually message Slim Jxmmi?

You’ll remember that Gabby and Marcel’s relationship ended because he cheated on her while on holiday, well, in a major Uno reverse moment, pretty much the same thing happened to him a few years later. The bomb was dropped when a woman going by the alias KD posted accusations that Rebecca had been “cheating on her husband” with her baby daddy, Slim Jxmmi.

“Cheating on your husband with my son’s dad is crazy…especially after being in my DMs trying to link with me and be cool. Nasty work,” she said on her Instagram stories. And she did not stop there, posting receipt after receipt that included an alleged nude photo Rebecca sent to the rapper.

Marcel and Rebecca separated soon after, with a source telling The Mirror: “The poor guy feels like he’s in a nightmare and he keeps hoping he’ll wake up. For him to know that Rebecca was telling another man she loves him, and then spent Valentine’s Day with him has completely broken him. He doesn’t know what he’s going to do now but he’s moved out of the family home and is living with friends at the moment.”

Though she has not publically acknowledged the details of the drama, Rebecca did write a lengthy public apology to Marcel for the hurt and embarrassment she caused.

“By now most of you would have seen what’s going on, I’ve made a huge mistake, I’ve embarrassed not only my husband but myself and both our families. My actions were foolish and have hurt so many people around us but most importantly my husband,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I’ve said a lot of things that I shouldn’t have and it was stupid of me so I won’t sit here and justify my actions, those decisions should have never been made. I want to publicly apologise to my Marcel, just as loudly as the rest of the noise. For all the hurt, embarrassment and pain I have put him through there is nothing and no one in the world that comes before you and our family. No one could ever compare.”

Slim Jxmmi kept relatively tight-lipped about the drama, but did post on Instagram: “I hate BM [baby momma] did this, Rebecca a good woman it ain’t even like that.”

He’s a rapper from America

Slim Jxmmi is one part of the hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd alongside his brother Swae Lee, real name Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown, from Tupelo, Mississippi. They rose to new levels of fame after singles such as No Flex Zone, No Type, and Throw Sum Mo, featuring Nicki Minaj and Young Thug, before receiving triple platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. Their first album, SremmLife, also received double platinum certification.

Even if you don’t know their names or music, I’m willing to bet you’ve heard of their certified bop, Black Beatles. The song, which also featured Gucci Mane, went positively viral in 2016 largely thanks to the Mannequin Challenge that took over Twitter and Instagram.

He’s got a bigger net worth than Marcel

Just to be extra messy, let’s take a look at Slim Jxmmi’s net worth when compared to Marcel’s. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the rapper has an impressive worth of $12 million.

Despite having a music career of his own as one part of the UK group Blazin’ Squad, Marcel Somerville’s net worth is estimated to be considerably lower at just £100k ($121k).
