Secret meaning behind Selena’s unique engagement ring shows Benny was listening

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are officially engaged and there’s an adorable hidden meaning behind the ring he proposed with.

She announced the exciting news on Instagram, sharing a series of pictures from the proposal with the caption: “Forever begins now.”

He popped the question with a super impressive marquise-shaped diamond, which is a cute nod to her 2015 song Good For You.

In the track, she sings about being a “marquise diamond” – which she obviously thinks is the ultimate kind of diamond. 

“I’m on my marquise diamonds. I’m a marquise diamond. Could even make that Tiffany jealous,” the lyrics say. 

So, she’s been obsessed with marquise diamonds for a really long time, nine years to be exact, and Benny clearly knew that. 

People were quick to spot the reference, with one person writing on X: “Selena Gomez did say she was a marquise diamond… Benny Blanco was listening.”

“Don’t settle for a man that proposes to you without a more than a million-dollar marquise diamond ring making reference to a song of yours,” said another.

A third person added: “Benny Blanco is thoughtful enough to give her the engagement ring Selena Gomez references in her iconic song Good For You.”

The pair started dating around halfway through 2023, although they didn’t confirm the relationship until December.

“He is my absolute everything in my heart,” Selena commented on an Instagram post. “It’s been 6 months bb.”

She then shared a photo of her hand with a letter “B” ring on her Instagram Story, telling the world they were an item.

They went Instagram official a few days later, with Selena sharing a picture of them hugging.
