Barkers’ kitchen at Lancaster’s Cartmel College closing for refurbishment until new year
The kitchen at the college bar and restaurant is set to close today
The kitchen in Barkers House Farm in Cartmel College is set to close today (Friday 6th December).
However, Barkers’ kitchen is expected to re-open in the new year on Friday 10th January.
The bar will not offer a menu, and customers will be unable to order food there.
Barkers is also one of the five outlets that is included in the Freedom Eats programme which is a pre-paid student dining scheme.
The common rooms will still be open while the refurbishments are going on, so during the period when the kitchen is closed, students in catered programs can collect their meals from a self-serve area at Barkers during their usual daily time slots.
Barkers is located on South West Campus in Cartmel College, and is restaurant, as well as a bar. It offers live sports, events, craft beer, pub food and even does a Sunday roast.
In 2003, Cartmel College relocated to South Campus where they refurbished Barker House Farm complex as the centre of the college. Barkers has offices, a Porters’ Lodge, a bar and a Junior Common Room, with the student accommodation built around it.
