Here’s the top five ways to entertain family when they visit Lincoln

These will hopefully stop your siblings from being glued to their phones

Family coming to visit is always a great distraction and another reason to procrastinate (we know you’re ignoring that essay). It’s a great way to not only cure the homesickness, but also give you the excuse to get out of the flat.

So, here are our top five ways to entertain family, and yourselves, in Lincoln.

1. Stuff your faces

Lincoln is home to some of the best food spots around, there’s something for everyone. Some of my top spots are Lincoln Bagel Co. and Craft but the world’s your oyster. Just walk up High Street and see what draws the family’s eye, as long they’re paying (we’re uni students, after all).

2. A little bit of culture

Lincoln is a historic city with so much to see. Some of our top spots are Lincoln Cathedral, which is free for students, and Lincoln castle, home to an original 1215 Magna Carta. It’s a great opportunity to show your family the beauty and history of Lincoln. Or just an opportunity to torture them; Steep Hill is not for the weak.

3. Get competitive

If you’re family is anything like mine, feuds can last forever. There are plenty of fun places around Lincoln to get competitive. The Arcade Warehouse and Carousel are both amazing arcade venues and if you’re family is all 18 and over, Glory Holes is such a good time. Make use of those photo ops!

4. A good old night out (if they’re 18+)

Lincoln is an amazing night out, especially when you’re from a village with one dodgy pub. Whether you’re looking for a pub crawl, a Friday night at Superbull or an all-nighter in Scene, you’ve got options. Let’s hope mum can stay awake.

5. Venture out

One of the best parts about family visits is the car that comes with it and wider Lincolnshire and beyond has tons of fun spots to explore. Some of my favourites are Newark Air Museum, Whisby Nature Park, and Woodside Wildlife Park.

There are so many options waiting to be discovered with your family, and even some to do with friends on days you don’t have uni. Try them out.
