Rod Stewart has absolutely dragged Gregg Wallace for ‘humiliating’ his wife Penny
You just know Gregg is seething Rod spelt his name with only one ‘g’
When the allegations came out about Gregg Wallace yesterday, which has seen him take a step back from his hosting duties on MasterChef – the one person nobody was expecting to come out swinging with a very savage statement is none other than Sir Rod Stewart. Rod’s post has gone instantly viral, and I cannot believe we are living in a universe where the Glastonbury 2025 Legends slot is kicking off with the host of MasterChef. Here’s what went down.
After the allegations against Gregg Wallace came out and he announced he’d be stepping back from MasterChef, Rod Stewart wasted no time in blasting Gregg for mistreating Rod’s wife Penny Lancaster when she appeared on the celebrity edition of the show.
In a post across all his social media, Rod Stewart said “So Greg Wallace gets fired from Master Chef. Good riddance Wallace… You humiliated my wife when she was on the show, but you had that bit cut out didn’t you? You’re a tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully. Karma got ya. Sir Rod Stewart.”
The gasp I let out reading tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully could be heard across the globe. The fact that Rod spelt Gregg’s name with one ‘g’ was a noted bit of shade, too – especially after that famous old tweet of Gregg knocking someone back on Twitter for doing it.
What actually happened between Gregg Wallace and Penny Lancaster?
Rod Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster appeared on Celebrity MasterChef in 2021, and refused to eat her tartar sauce. He dragged her for using whole eggs rather than just egg yolks. He also chastised her for being late when serving her food for the judges in the quarter finals, which left Penny in tears at the time.

After getting the boot from the show, Penny said “Everything piled on top of me. I just hope the wait was worth it,’ she said. Choked up, Penny said: “It would’ve been incredible to get through to the semi finals but it wasn’t meant to be. Absolutely no regrets whatsoever. I’ve always loved to eat food, never loved to cook – and now I love both.”
Gregg Wallace has made a statement after the allegations
In a video posted on his Instagram yesterday captioned “guess that meeting didn’t go as planned”, Gregg Wallace said “I would like to thank all the people getting in touch, reaching out and showing their support. It’s good of you. Thank you very much.”
