Here’s everything you should do when you visit Cardiff’s Christmas market

Discover the festive charm at the heart of the city, starting with this useful guide

With the countdown for Christmas being just around the corner, the perfect way to get in the spirit is undoubtedly the markets in Cardiff town centre. With a multitude of options, it is impossible to leave empty handed. Hopefully, you can get your Christmas shopping done and dusted and, even better, your gifts will be unique and straight from the Welsh capital!

Located on St John Street, these markets are easily accessible and only a few minutes walk from the castle – another festive spot. Make sure you wrap up warm because it is an outdoor set up (scarf, hat, and gloves are essential).

Grab a warm appetiser

Before finding your first stall, we’d recommend stopping off for something warm. Whether that be a loaded Yorkshire pudding or something lighter like delicious hot roasted nuts. A favourite preference is to stop for a Bailey’s hot chocolate at the Christmas bar to carry around with you. Non-negotiable: Something tasty before the browsing begins.

Explore and take your pick!

After completing the necessary preparation, it is time to start exploring what the markets have to offer. With an abundance of options, our advice would be to have a browse and see what takes your fancy before you get the chance buy everything in your sight out of impulse.

Next up: Shopping for family and friends

Hopefully these market recommendations will benefit your present inspiration. A cute one to kick off, the Little Daffodil Clothing stall sells precious children’s clothing and accessories – perfect for younger siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews. If you are looking for some jewellery (classic mum or sister gift) there are plenty to choose from: Tangled Webb and KelZo Jewellery were two that caught our eye. Finally, without bombarding you, we loved the simplicity of Stilus: One market stall which sells greetings cards and prints, a perfect unique choice to send to anyone this Christmas.

Treat yourself

After you’ve bought for your loved ones, it’ll be difficult to leave without a personal keepsake. Don’t be afraid to spoil yourself too with a but of extra budget.

Fingers crossed, this guide has been useful, providing some recommendations for your next festive outing. The markets are open until Monday 23rd of December, giving you plenty of time to go along and explore what is on offer. Don’t miss out!
