3. Alex’s behaviour – 56 Ofcom complaints

One episode of MAFS UK sparked 56 complaints to Ofcom over the behaviour of Alex to Holly during one of the dramatic dinner parties. Ofcom explained the majority of the complaints they received about the episode were in relation to “alleged gaslighting behaviour by Alex.”

Holly became upset when she felt like Alex was ignoring her and flirting with Amy, and despite Holly trying to explain her feelings to Alex he declared she was “acting up for the cameras”.

2. Girl’s night – 237 Ofcom complaints

The treatment of Hannah by the female members of the cast during Girl’s Night resulted in a total of 237 complaints to Ofcom over their behaviour.

As Hannah was entering the room, Holly muttered: “Look what the cat’s dragged in.” Throughout the rest of the evening, Hannah was treated very poorly by her fellow brides with some rather unkind words being exchanged between everyone.

The MAFS UK 2024 reunion, which was spread across two episodes is officially the most complained about moment from this season. During the first reunion episode, viewers complained about the treatment of Hannah and Adam by Holly and Polly and were also unhappy with the response from the experts around their behaviour.

187 complaints were made to Ofcom in the second reunion episode with Holly’s treatment of Hannah coming under scrutiny again, with viewers complaining the experts didn’t do enough to call Holly out for what she said to Hannah.
