Football legend Wayne Rooney has been flagged for a potential cameo on I’m A Celeb as his wife Coleen fights for the crown amongst creepy crawlies and a Wagatha Christie-shaped cloud above her head.

Coleen Rooney has been a fan-favourite in the jungle so far, but as the days continue and hunger sets in, we are bound to see her porcelain picture crack. As such, a shock visit from her hubby could be exactly what she needs to continue to the crown.

According to ITV insiders, the show’s bosses are considering resurrecting an old segment of the show that would allow Coleen’s husband Wayne to make a shock appearance, that is if she can make it that far.

Speaking to the Daily Express, the source claimed: “Towards the end of the series they [show bosses] will offer up little prizes which allow access to loved ones, like the letters from home and sometimes calls from home, and maybe even videos could happen. People loved it when Harry Redknapp was reunited with his wife Sandra in camp.”

Wayne might struggle to fly across the globe

After hanging up his football boots in 2021, Wayne Rooney stepped into a managerial role at Derby County, followed by D.C. United, and Birmingham City. He is now with the championship team Plymouth Argyle, but as they are a single point outside the relegation zone, it might be hard for Wayne to fly across the globe.

“That can’t happen as Wayne isn’t going to Australia, so they are looking at other options to get him involved as they know it would be a big hit with viewers and Coleen,” the source added.

Instead, we could see Wayne popping up in video format, which would no doubt grind the gears of one Rebekah Vardy who was not in I’m A Celeb long enough to get a call from home.

Wayne earlier supported Coleen’s casting in the show, taking to Instagram where he posted a carousel of images and her I’m A Celeb headshot.

“Good luck to our mum who’s in the jungle for @imacelebrity. We’re missing you already but can’t wait to watch (you do some trials) and for people to see what you’re all about. The best. We love you @coleen_rooney”,” he penned.
