Who is Josh Seiter? Reality star getting called out for pretending to be trans to ‘own the libs’

The twist is he used to date Monica Beverly Hillz, a trans queen from RuPaul’s Drag Race

Josh Seiter has been viral daily on Twitter recently, and now over on TikTok – as the backlash to his stunt pretending to be a trans woman reveals more and more plot twists. Josh Seiter has been involved in multiple bizarre scandals since he came on to the reality TV scene in 2015, so here’s a rundown of who he is and why he’s constantly trending on Twitter the past few days as his stunt well and truly backfires.

He was on The Bachelorette in 2015

Josh Seiter first made a name for himself as a contestant on The Bachelorette in 2015. He was eliminated in the first week of the show.

He had a death hoax in 2023

In 2023, Josh Seiter came out as bisexual. That same year, the press reported Josh was dead after  a statement was posted on his Instagram reading “It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share the tragic news of Joshua’s unexpected passing. As all who knew him can attest, Joshua was an incredibly bright light in an increasingly dim world. His fearless voice and indomitable spirit helped thousands of people in their darkest moments feel just a little less alone.”

Josh Seiter then posted a video one month later claiming he was hacked, revealing he was alive and deleting the earlier post.

RuPaul’s Drag Race queen Monica Beverly Hillz, who made history on the show as the first queen to come out mid series as a trans woman back in season five, accused Seiter of faking his own death at the time, saying “I don’t have the words, I’m baffled. I’m angry. I’m happy he’s alive, I’m happy he’s here, but this is so infuriating to me. Being involved and being a trans woman of colour, speaking about certain situations, not letting men use us for our glamour and spotlight, and here’s this guy doing all of this stuff.

“It makes me look like I’m involved and that I’m crazy… I got my page hacked, it took me months to get my damn Instagram back. I was devastated. There’s no way in hell that [his] was hacked. Sorry, no.”

Josh Seiter then responded, saying “Those are all ridiculous accusations made up by somebody with nothing better to do with their time.

“As a mental-health advocate, issues of suicide are very sensitive for me. To suggest that I would orchestrate a death post around that issue is sickening. I have dedicated the [past] eight years of my life [to] blogging and raising awareness about mental health, and I will continue to do so, regardless of what my detractors have to say.”

He denied dating Monica, saying to The Advocate “That’s not my ex.I hung out with them three times, and I’ve had more physical contact with my mother than I did with them.” (Even though Seiter referred to Hillz by them pronouns, Hillz is a trans woman who goes by she/her pronouns.)

Josh Seiter’s trans ‘stunt’

Of recent months, Josh Seiter has been dressing up in clothing from the women’s section to try and make some misguided point about how trans women are just men pretending. He revealed on Prime Time with Alex Stein in October of this year that he has been pretending to be trans as “a social experiment to expose woke culture” and “own the libs”.

Bizarrely, he’s continued to do this in November 2024, even though he’s explained that he isn’t trans and is faking it.

A TikTok goes viral bringing up the fact he allegedly dated Monica

A TikTok was posted explaining the fact that Josh Seiter allegedly posted a story at the time saying he and Monica had gone their separate ways – where he respected her pronouns.

He also allegedly had Monica’s Instagram handle in his bio.

Monica Beverly Hillz has now spoken out praising the TikTok about Josh Seiter, saying “THIS! Whoever she is, tell her thank you” – referring to the person who made the TikTok showcasing the apparent timeline of events.

Since all this has gone down, Josh Seiter has posted on Twitter / X saying that all his relationships with Amy Slaton, Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Monica Beverly Hillz were “totally not a troll or part of my social experiment. Neither was my death hoax.”
