‘This area is a nightmare’

Nottingham students have voiced their concerns after a viral TikTok video shows a student walking into her accommodation to find a man sitting outside on her windowsill in Radford.

In the video, the man can be seen staring into the female student’s window whilst sticking his middle finger up and flexing his arms at her.

The video says: “Welcome to Radford lol”, and the student, Louise, recording the video has captioned it: “First day back as well”.

The video has amassed 885,300 views on TikTok and has received nearly 500 comments, many of them expressing sympathy and concern for the student.

The top comment says: “Why would they build the accom there omg. Welcome to Notts.”

Other commenters expressed concern for the female student, saying things like: “1000 per cent get window film xxx” or “This is incredibly unsafe and insane”

Some users shared their own experiences of living in the Radford area commenting: “I live in the flats behind, this area is a nightmare fr” and “I got robbed walking back from work on that street two times, it’s the trenches.”

Radford is among one of the most common locations for student accommodation developments alongside the city centre and around the University of Nottingham’s Jubilee campus, with 10,000 purpose-built bed spaces in the pipeline, Nottingham Post reports.
