So, how much money does Jennifer Lopez actually *have* to lose in Ben Affleck divorce?
Bennifer have $650 million and no prenup
Unlike the number one Jennifer Lopez song Love Don’t Cost a Thing, it looks like her divorce to Ben Affleck might cost her rather a lot of money.
Bennifer have officially split (again). Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on 20th August – their second year wedding anniversary. Ouch.
Despite having $650 million (£500 million) and four previous divorces between them, the couple decided not to make a prenuptial agreement. This means that all their earnings from their two-year-long marriage legally count as community property, and will need to be divided up. Their financial managers are going to need a very big spreadsheet.
Lopez is way richer than Affleck. Celebrity Net Worth estimates that her net worth is about $400 million (£310 million), and his net worth is a measly $150 million (£115 million). Here is how much money could be involved in Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s divorce.
Their Los Angeles mansion
Lopez and Affleck bought this massive mansion in May 2023 for $61 million (£47 million). The 38,000-square-foot house is in Beverly Hills. It has a basketball court and a pool straight out of a Selling Sunset episode.
The couple apparently attempted to sell the house privately in June 2024, but ended up listing it publicly in July for $68 million (£52 million).

You can legit flick through all 34 photos of it here on the property website Zillow. I definitely have not spent my morning peering at the sports car in the garage and the strange wicker baskets hanging from the kitchen ceiling. The website highlights that the house has a spa, parking for 80 guests, and a dishwasher.
When people began speculating that the house was for sale because the couple were splitting up, a source told People that Lopez had gone off it because “the house is way too big for her”. The house is definitely not small. There are 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms (just in case you have 24 dinner party guests who all need to pee at once? Or you like to brush each tooth over a different sink?).
How much money Ben Affleck has made
The actor has been raking in money for decades. Deadline estimated that he was paid between $20 and $30 million (£15 and £23 million) for his, ahem, critically divisive role of Batman in the DC Extended Universe films.
While married to Lopez, Affleck starred in the detective thriller Hypnotic. He also cameoed as Batman in The Flash and was supposed to appear in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, but his scenes were cut.
Affleck made it onto the Forbes 2023 list of the highest-paid actors. Directing and starring in Air (a drama about shoes) helped him make $38 million (£30 million) that year.
According to CNN, Affleck was paid $10 million (£8 million) for appearing in a single Dunkin’ Donuts ad.
How much money Jennifer Lopez has made
Jennifer Lopez could lose a load of money in her divorce to Ben Affleck.
Lopez has had a rather busy few years. Since 2022, she has released one album, one film soundtrack, two documentaries, four films, a children’s book with Jimmy Fallon (no, really) called Con Pollo: A Bilingual Playtime Adventure, and whatever exactly the “autobiographical musical rom-com action sci-fi” This Is Me… Now: A Love Story was.
Lopez’s much higher net worth of $400 million (£310 million) is more down to her business ventures than her music.
She has collaborated with numerous brands over her career. Jennifer Lopez made plenty of money through her business ventures in the years leading up to her divorce from Ben Affleck. According to Cosmo, her lifestyle brand J.Lo by Jennifer Lopez makes her about $40 million each year. JLo Beauty’s net sales in 2022 were $75 million (£58 million). In 2023, J.Lo by Jennifer Lopez collaborated with the fashion brand Revolve to create three collections of shoes.
Like pretty much every other celeb, Lopez has her own alcohol brand. In April 2023, she announced Delola – a line of bottled cocktails and spritzes.
