Love Island fans think that Ciaran’s mum is not a fan of Nicole, and here’s why

The long-awaited meet the parents episode saw the Islanders’ families entering the villa, meaning they were reunited after nearly two months of being apart. It was a day of high emotion, tension and reality checks for the contestants. During Love Island last night, fans spotted a moment between Ciaran and his mum that proved she’s not that into Nicole.

Ciaran, who has been happily coupled with Nicole for the majority of the series, recently asked her to be his girlfriend, and have even confessed their love for each other on the show. The two seem to be the most solid couple with little opposition against them.

However, fans were a little suspicious of Ciaran’s mum after last night’s episode. After chatting with Nicole and joking about planning a wedding, she made a comment that didn’t sit right with last night’s viewers.

On Love Island last night, Ciaran was told by his mum: “You’re happy, so I trust your judgement.” Maybe it’s just that emotions were running high last night, but she didn’t seem ecstatic about Ciaran’s choice of beau. Surely you’d be a little more passionate about your future daughter-in-law?

One fan commented on X (formerly Twitter): “I can tell that Ciaran‘s parents, especially mum, have some reservations about Nicole.”

Another wrote: “Is it just me who thinks Ciaran’s mum doesn’t seem 100% on Nicole?” Seems like quite a few people thought this way.

However, it’s difficult to see why the two wouldn’t get along. Ciaran told Nicole on their romantic beach date earlier in the series that his mum’s one wish for him in the villa was that “you better find a Welsh girl,” and Nicole fits that criteria perfectly. Perhaps it’s just a case of the producers turning up the drama, but it’s hard to ignore when there’s such an influx of fans who all think the same thing.

On the other hand, Nicole’s mum seemed to be overjoyed with her choice of man. In a teary-eyed moment, she gushed “He really, really likes you, Nicole,” to which she replied “I wouldn’t have got through it without him by my side”.

Nicole’s seemed to be thinking beyond the show when she shared “I think you’ve got a really lovely future together” and I think most viewers would agree with that.

Nicole’s mum revealed early on in the series that she was firmly against Nicole ending up with celebrity contestant Joey Essex. She told Aftersun host Maya Jama: “I love Joey, but I didn’t want Nicole to be with him, no.”

Looks like the future is bright for Ciaran and Nicole, who seem to be the favourites to win the show and its hefty £50,000 prize.
