Here is exactly what Pedro Pascal said about Kieran Culkin in censored Emmys moment
It was deemed too brutal for broadcast
Pedro Pascal made a joke about Kieran Culkin being the one to break his arm in a bitter award rage and it was scrubbed from the 2023 Emmys broadcast on Monday night.
Addressing the audience before presenting the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series gong at the delayed ceremony, Pedro addressed his broken arm in a sling. He tried to explain the reason behind it as a product of his professional rivalry with another HBO show. However, the moment was bleeped out by Fox, the channel showing it.
“A lot of people have been asking about my arm; it’s actually my shoulder… Kieran Culkin beat the shit out of me,” Pedro said.
This gag comes after Kieran told Pedro to “suck it” after beating him in the Best Actor category at the Golden Globes the other week. The Last of Us, the emotional pandemic video game adaptation, saw his character Joel take on a fatherly role for Bella Ramsay’s character Ellie to critical acclaim.

Kieran was glaring back at Pedro in faux-anger before cracking a smile. Also, on the night, he took home Best Actor and begged his wife, Jazz Charton, to have more kids with him.
Viewers at home, who were given a stream a few seconds behind just for moments like this, were unlikely to get what they were saying. Of course, this could be rectified if they migrated over to Twitter to see a clip of the unfiltered moment.

The moment was just before Kieran’s Succession co-star Matthew McFadyen won the award for his turn as the not-so-hapless Tom Wambsgans. His outsider character was seen as ‘the winner’ of the race to replace Brain Cox’s Logan Roy as the CEO of Waystar following his death at the beginning of the fourth and final season. The family media drama was one of the night’s big winners – along with The Bear and Beef – and the wider awards ceremony. After sweeping at the Globes, it also took home Best Leading Actress for Sarah Snook’s Shiv Roy, Best Drama, and Best Writing.
The show’s creator, Jesse Armstrong, used his win to highlight how hard it was to get commissioned, saying: “This wasn’t necessarily an easy show to commission in the beginning. This is a show about family, but it’s also about when partisan news coverage gets intertwined with divisive rightwing politics.”
