J. K. Rowling has promised there will be a further two Harry Potter films

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be a trilogy

The best things come in threes. Harry, Ron and Hermione; Triwizarding tournaments. And new Harry Potter films. Author J. K. Rowling has promised that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be delivered in three parts.

In responding to a tweet about the play The Cursed Child, J. K. Rowling revealed that Fantastic Beasts will be a trilogy.

The first film, starring Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, was announced last year and will be released on 18th November. It’s not confirmed whether or not Redmayne will appear in all three films.

The film will be directed by David Yates – who directed the fifth, six, seventh and eighth films – and will also star Colin Farrell.

The film is set 70 years before the original Harry Potter series. Scamander studies magical creatures and inadvertently unleashes some of them in 1920s New York.
