The first footage from Star Wars Episode VIII has already been released

It’s not coming out until December 2017, but the creators of Star Wars have delivered the first trailer for Episode VIII already. It puts us right where Episode VII left off, but doesn’t give much else away.

Posted by the official Star Wars Youtube channel, it shows Rey handing Luke his old lightsaber back. He looks confused, she holds it out and then the director calls “cut”.

It hints that the new film could kick off right where the last one ended, but any more details about Episode VIII are being kept tightly wrapped. The press release simply says:

“Rey took her first steps into a larger world in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and will continue her epic journey with Finn, Poe, and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the continuing Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode VIII, which began principal photography at Pinewood Studios in London on February 15, 2016.”
