We partied with drag queen Adore Delano at a Soho gay club

This is G-A-Y Porn Idol, the raunchiest night in London, and we’re there to see some special performances from guest members of Ru Paul’s drag race.

Baga is a regular judge, and widely celebrated member of London’s drag scene. The atmosphere at Porn Idol is fever pitch,and the format of the night for me is simple: free entry to the event from G-A-Y, where I’ll load up on insanely cheap drinks and end up drunk and singing on stage at Heaven at 1am with my gay friends cringing at what a straight, drunk embarrassment I am.

Don’t be ashamed if this is you, though. Instead, join in the schadenfreude of the judges discussing the finer points of whether size matters. According to the girls on the panel – it does.

You’ll also probably look on at befuddlement at the omnipresence of Jacob,  a cute dog who enthusiastically leaps around the stage after, during and before strip routines.

Most of the all-singing, all-dancing contestants sign up in advance, but a number are picked up on the door if they are willing, and one contestant (or occasionally two, as was the case for Adore’s night) are picked up from the dance floor during the show.

Jeremy Joseph, founder of  G-A-Y and owner of Jacob, jokingly insists that Adore pick one contestant for the competition – and one whom she would like to bump uglies with later on.

The final two contestants, after a round of eliminations, dance along with Adore as she sings. She performed her own song ‘The Creeps’, as the two finalists werked it on order to win a cash prize and the satisfaction of knowing Adore Delano thought they were the fishiest.

Adore is a fan favourite from Ru Paul’s seminal TV show, and a few members of the audience spoke to us about the exciting prospect of meeting Adore at the meet-and-greet after the show.

Oliver, 19, UAL:“I can’t wait to meet her. She absolutely slayed my life on that stage. What a queen.”

Harry, 18, UAL: “One of my favourite queens I’ve seen at Heaven so far.”

Ethan, 18: “I like how she can get up on stage in an oversized T-shirt and fishnets and still completely own it.”

Ellie, 18, UAL: “It’s impossible not to love her. She’s talented and shit, and she looked good tonight.”

Of course we managed to get a picture with Adore, holding merchandise from London’s finest student news outlet.
