When they said “falling in love is wonderful”, they didn’t consider YouTube star Dan Glover proposing to his teenaged girlfriend in a West Sussex cinema.

Wet drip Dan, 21, popped the question to the love of his life, Becky Hamblett at the Scott Cinema in East Grinstead before settling down to watch a children’s film.

The Chichester third year convinced unsuspecting Becky they were going on an innocent date to see “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”.

But then he got down on one knee and asked the 18-year-old to spend the rest of her life with him.

YouTube sensation and Performing Arts student Dan made a three minute video called “Ten things I love about you” which played on the big screen as they sat down.

Becky burst into tears and said “yes” when Dan showed her the ring.

Dan described how he was shaking with nerves before asking the question.

He said: “I’m a YouTuber and I make videos anyway. I wanted to do something memorable and relatable to us, so I thought why not just make a video?

“Becky used to go to this cinema every Saturday when she was little. I thought it would be cute to show one of my videos and play it on the big screen.

“I was really nervous as we went in and I thought there was no backing out now. I was shaking I was so scared and I blamed the cold.

“The cinema and projectionist were great and helped me sort everything out. They even got flowers and champagne for us.”

Dan added: “In my head I had planned what I was going to say but when I got down on one knee I went blank.

“It was made harder because I was in skinny jeans so it was a struggle to bend down.

“That whole moment was a blur but when she said yes I was so happy. I just wanted to hug her to say thank you for not humiliating me in front of all these people.

“There was staff and families there to see Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day but they were loving it when I proposed.

“After I popped the question, we went out to take some pictures and then came back in to see the film. But I can’t remember what happened at all, I was totally distracted and so was Becky.”

When the film ended they went to the same Pizza Express where they had their first date back in 16th August 2013.

They plan to get married on 16th August 2018 which marks their five year anniversary.

Dan plans to have children with Becky when they’re married and ahead in their careers.

He told the story of how he met the teenager that will one day be the mother of his children.

Dan said: “We met on YouTube. I’m a Christian and so is she and we realised we go to the same church called New Frontiers [an evangelical Christian network].

“From our first date at a Pizza Express in East Grinstead, we just got on. We have the same beliefs and that really helps.”

“We’re starting a YouTube channel together, documenting our life through a long distance relationship called Dacky, from our names Dan and Becky, which is what people call us on Twitter.”

This comes after equally wet Richard McKeever organised a soulless Skype date with long-distance girlfriend Juliet – as part of a publicity stunt with Domino’s Pizza.

Richard paid £483 to send pizza, champagne, flowers, and a violinist to lover Juliet and watcher her eat it on webcam.

Watch the proposal video on Saturday when the Dacky channel is launched.
