My Movember round-up
As Movember sadly draws to a close, Andrew Griffiths tries out some of his favourite facial hair styles
I like to think that that the My Movember series has given you an insight into what it is like to grow a majestic goatee in the name of raising awareness for prostate cancer and hopefully it has inspired you to donate to the Movember charity.
Due to my appreciation of you guys reading my articles and the fun I have had growing a goatee this Movember, I thought I would give you something back in the form of my definitive guide to ridiculous facial hair. Enjoy:
The Bro-tee

This subtle variation on the goatee takes liberty with the handlebars of the goatee and is likely to be found on any given American college campus. It has been adopted by the likes of Jonny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Heath Ledger, but don’t try to replicate it as you’ll just end up looking like a tool.
The Conquistador

More likely to be found in the cocaine fields of Columbia, or a Mexican drug cartel’s safe house than the harmless confines of academic establishments, this style of facial hair is ideal if you want to add that element of danger missing from your mundane life. A no-brainer for fans of Mediterranean oil barons.
The ‘Stache

A tried and tested classic that is a favourite of Dads worldwide. Wear with caution as you will inevitably get an endless supply of food and drink stuck to your upper lip. It goes without saying that facial hygiene is a must with this style.
The Toothbrush

The much-maligned toothbrush moustache was originally adopted by Charlie Chaplin in 1914 but was unfortunately appropriated by Adolf Hitler. For some, this moustache represents the pure essence of evil so I would avoid at all costs unless you fancy not being able to walk down the street without being spat at.
The Clean Shave

Before and after
Not really a style but I thought I would include it so you can see how drastic my goatee transformation truly was.
It’s been a long, emotional journey, and I like to think I have grown as a person alongside the growth of my goatee – but I can’t say that I’m not glad to be rid of the garish thing. I can only hope that you got as much out of the experience as I did.
So, same time next year?
