Lava Mondays or Bridge Mondays? Is Fuzzies truly the place to go to on a Wednesday? What about clubbing on Saturdays, where is there to go? Well, all these questions will be answered in this article dedicated to the delights that Oxford has to offer with regards to nightlife with a guide to the nightlife in Oxford and where the recommended place is to go to on every night of the week.

Monday – Lava

The place to go to on Mondays would have to be Lava not only because it is the biggest club in Oxford with three dance floors, numerous bars and brilliant drink deals but it also seems the place where the general clubbers go and that is the place you always want to be at. Considering the fact that there are three dance floors, the range of music is vast which makes it brilliant as there is something there for everyone ranging from the cheese room to remixes of your favourite tunes to an RnB room where you can chill out and relax.

Tuesday – Bounce @ Lola Lo

The best themed nights out in Oxford. Lolas as a club is very small so the people who go to this night always liven the place up with their sense of fancy dress in the numerous themed nights that Bounce pits on throughout the year. The club only has one dance floor so it can be quite cramped sometimes especially when the club is busy which creates the ever present problem in clubs with regards to queuing to getting drinks at the bar. Nonetheless, if you are looking for a fun night out in Oxford then Lolas would have to be the place for you.

Wednesday – Fuzzy Ducks @ Wahoo

Fuzzies would definitely be the club of choice for Wednesdays and if you like sport then you will probably have to get used to this clubbing night as this is where all of the sports teams at Brookes go out on a Wednesday. The club itself has two floors with a bar on each floor which makes it accessible to get drinks and the club always has great music. I am sure that several of you have heard about Fuzzies and what you can expect in a nutshell is that upstairs in the club it is the “Traditional Fuzzies” whereas downstairs, it is just a normal clubbing night in Wahoo. Nevertheless, I am sure in your time at Brookes if you go to Fuzzies you will hear the Baywatch theme tune at least once.

As the name suggests Camera holds a classy night out compared to most other clubs and as a result, this is quite an expensive club with regards to drinks than most others. Like several other clubs in Oxford, Camera has two floors but an awkward looking layout as it has a pillar in the centre of the club which means that on both floors you can end up going round in circles looking for your friends if you unfortunately lose contact with them. Nonetheless, as long as you are with good mates, Klass @ Camera is always a good night out and the preferred night out of choice on a Thursday.

Kandy @ Junction is the place to be on a Friday night

Friday – Kandy @ Junction

An important night in any week with regards to clubbing and the place I would recommend would be Junction and its Friday night called Kandy. As a club, Junction is a fairly big club with one main dance floor but there is a lot of space surrounding it in which you can bust some moves if you like. Two

bars with good drinks prices, especially for a Friday, and if you are a dab-hand at Sega Rally Championship then there are arcade games ready and waiting for you.

Propaganda in full swing is a sight to behold

Saturday – Propaganda @ The O2 Academy

Lava, Lolas or Clems but instead I opt for Propaganda @ The O2 Academy. The only club I have mentioned that is not in the city centre but it is one of the biggest with two floors, three rooms and four bars. Even though it is an indie night the music is what separates this club from the rest on a Saturday but if that is not your cup of tea then there is always the cheese room upstairs with all of your 90s needs.

Sunday

Well, not many people go out on Sundays so instead in this section I will mention one major club in Oxford that is Bridge. If you are a Fresher this is the club for you as this seems to be the Freshers’ club of choice especially on a Monday night but be warned as it is incredibly narrow and I mean narrow. When it is busy, be prepared to be bunched up like sardines dancing to traditional clubbing tunes with a few current songs thrown in the mix whilst trying not to spill your drink in the process. Nonetheless, if that is for you then you will enjoy the nightclub of Bridge.
