Traveling the world without ever having to pay for another plane ticket, could it really be true? Well it is if you work as a flight attendant for some of the world’s most luxurious airline companies.

While many people might not realize it, flight attendants take their job very seriously. Putting aside all the “glitz and glamour” of the job, flight attendants go through months of rigorous training from self-defense to first aid to evacuations. Each attendant must repeat this training yearly to ensure that standards are being kept up to date.

Another misconception about flight attendants is that they aren’t very educated. While this could not be farther from the truth majority of flight attendants have double degrees and many other interests apart from just teaching safety precautions and serving you.

Meeting new people everyday

Not only do flight attendants interact with the passengers on each flight, they also have a new cabin crew for every single flight. Flight attendants must be very social and flexible to keep with this sort of lifestyle. One flight attendant said “it is so exciting interacting with such diverse people and being able to travel and experience new places together.”

Missing loved ones

It is such a tough job when it comes to visiting friends and family back home because flight attendants are always on the go. It is also sometimes tiring for the friends and family of the flight attendants to keep track of their ever-changing schedules. Every relationship you have automatically becomes long-distance. It’s tested whether or not it can survive this challenge.

Meeting new people can also be a con if you have really had a good time because you have to say goodbye to them and have no idea when you will see them again. Of course now we have so many social media applications to help us keep in touch but it isn’t the same as physically being there with someone.

Exploring the world

Air hostesses visit amazing destinations throughout Asia, Europe, North & South America, and even Africa! They usually have a few days off in between flights in which the attendants use to explore the cities they are visiting. Most of what they do is paid for directly by the airline company allowing them to really enjoy their stops.

Time differences and communication

Since flight attendants are always traveling to different countries they must also be accustomed to different time zones. However, when trying to communicate with people back home or friends in other countries it makes this difficult to respond in a timely fashion or even have a decent conversation.

You’re always tired

Because flight attendants are always aboard planes with a confined air circulation they must be extra cautious of taking care of their health. Sometimes the cabin crews go 18 hours without sleeping and all the different time zones really mess with their head since they really have no sleep schedule.

It’s a self-rewarding job

Flight attendants are always smiling as if everything is great and that’s because it really is majority of the time. They love to see passengers reactions first-hand about how their service is going. They also love to get feed back on how they are doing and whether or not something can be improved. This sort of advice helps motivate them to provide better service for passengers.
