Someone scrawled ‘killed Paris’ on an Egyptian student’s door

It was written on his dorm room name tag

An Egyptian resident’s door has been defaced, accusing him of being responsible for the terrorist attacks in Paris last night.

Mahmoud Hashem woke up to find “killed Paris” written on his dorm room name tag.

A friend posted on UConn’s Buy and Sell Facebook page: “Last night, in the aftermath of the tragedy that took place in Paris, a friend of mine, a student at the University of Connecticut became a casualty of an event that happened an ocean away.

“Mahmoud awoke to find ‘killed Paris’ written on the name tag on his dorm room door.

“Mahmoud just transferred to UConn from Egypt, where he excelled in engineering.

“Is this how we welcome bright young minds into our community? Mahmoud, as you can all imagine, was profiled for his name.”

It added: “Mahmoud, meanwhile, sat in awestruck at the hatred he had just seen because of his name.

“It is our responsibility as citizens of the world to stand up for a bright member of our community.”
