Man who murdered Pitt student Alina Sheykhet denied bond in homicide charges
He is facing trial for the death of Pitt junior Alina Sheykhet
Matthew Darby, former Pitt student and ex-boyfriend of Alina Sheykhet, was transported back to Allegheny County from Myrtle Beach on Thursday to face trial for the murder of Alina. Darby is also charged with the rape of a teenage girl from Elizabeth, Pennsylvania.
Darby was arraigned for three different cases, and denied bail and bond for each of them.
Darby was found in North Carolina after Sheykhet was discovered dead in her home on October 8.
Darby is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail. Friday night, he was arraigned on a violation of a Protection From Abuse order, a rape case and a homicide case. He plead guilty to all charges in Myrtle Beach.
After Darby was charged in Sheykhet's death, the teen came forward and told authorities she had been assaulted on October 3. Darby has also been charged with raping a different ex-girlfriend in March in Indiana County.
