Last night, the UMich press office confirmed to The Tab that former NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg, who was announced as the 2016 commencement speaker 3 weeks ago, will be replaced with none other than DJ Khaled.

According to a Michigan press contact, Bloomberg’s unexpected cancellation left UMich scrambling to find a replacement, as the ceremony is a few short weeks away. Luckily, DJ Khaled was available — he’s actually doing a tour of commencement speeches, presumably because he knows how influential he is to our generation (with his incredible Snapchat skills) and wants to spread his wisdom.
This will no doubt come as an absolute thrill to the UMich students who started a petition to get Khaled to deliver the address.
And let’s be honest, we’d all rather hear the “major keys” to success than listen to a former mayor drone on about the government. It seems like this time, UMich does want us to win. Bless up.
