Don’t lose track: MTA trains ranked

From showtime to show-up time, Yelp users rate the best subway trains

The regular American student spends their mornings walking ten minutes to class in their pyjamas.

But at Hunter, the average commuter deals with sweaty rush hours, panhandlers and dancers yelling out “it’s showtime”.

The enemy in this tussle with transit is the cartel-like MTA.

Yelp, which is mostly referenced by cranky restaurant goers and fearful tourists, also happens to feature reviews and ratings of different subway lines.

Earning the top spot is the Q with a 3.5 out of five, with 77 reviews, followed by the 2, 6 and 1. Tailing at the end are the R with just two out of five, with 78 reviews and the C.

Economics junior Denis Poretsky said: “I take the 6 train. It’s almost always a human Tetris experience.

“On the plus side, there’s not enough room for ‘showtimeeee’ so that’s pretty cool.”

And when you realize you just missed it

Third year Entertainment Technology major Charlie Oniszczuk added: “I take the Q53 to transfer to the R at Woodhaven and the F at Roosevelt.

“The F is more merciful then the E which sometimes I take but on rush hours it’s a nightmare because the crowded cars are like sardine cans.

“The bus isn’t any better, it’s always stuck during rush hours.”
