Bernie Sanders drew a larger crowd in New York than Obama last night

The atmosphere was electric

Last night, people were definitely feeling the Bern in Washington Square Park as a record 27,000 people filled the park to watch the Democratic Candidate for President, Bernie Sanders, speak underneath the arch.

Not only did the event draw record crowds to Greenwich Village, but it was star-studded as well. New York based alt-rock band Vampire Weekend kicked off the event with a performance which was followed by speeches from famous New York sons and daughters Tim Robbins, Spike Lee, and Rosario Dawson.

Also in attendance were some several hundred of the Verizon workers that Bernie stood on a picket line with in Brooklyn earlier in the day.

The crowd was electric and the smell of weed smoke was in the New York night air as Bernie took to task everyone from greedy corporations to establishment politicians in Washington.

The excitement around the event was further bolstered by the fact that he has won seven out of the last eight democratic primaries and is gaining a huge head of steam going into the New York Democratic Primary coming up this Tuesday, April 19th.

Myself and some other members of The Tab team were lucky enough to be in attendance at this potentially historic event. Here is some of what we saw.
